Several CT members participated in the Darebin Ethnic Community Council Multicultural White Ribbon Day on 25 November, learning much from the presentations, which included:
- Dr Regina Quiazon, Senior Research and Policy Advocate with the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health talking about key issues in working with men from immigrant and refugee communities in preventing violence against women and
- Mr Ajit Singh about the Oorja Foundation Project – a community initiative to combat violence against women and domestic violence.
A highlight of the evening was the pledge taken by the men attending the function: I will stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women. The pledge had been translated into and was read in 23 languages.
